MannheimTaxation Explores Cooperation Opportunities with Chinese Academy of Fiscal Sciences

13.07.2026

Digitales Treffen zwischen Vertretern/-innen des ZEW Mannheim und der CAFS.

On 11 June 2026, representatives of ZEW Mannheim, the University of Mannheim and the Chinese Academy of Fiscal Sciences (CAFS) met online to explore opportunities for cooperation in research and policy advice. The meeting also prepared the ground for a future visit by a CAFS delegation to Mannheim.

Four MannheimTaxation researchers participated in the discussions: Philipp Dörrenberg, spokesperson of MannheimTaxation, Eckhard Janeba, Holger Stichnoth and Li Yang.

Drawing on their expertise in taxation, public finance and research on inequality, the MannheimTaxation members discussed potential areas for joint research and academic exchange with their counterparts at CAFS.

The CAFS delegation included senior researchers working on public revenues, macroeconomics, state governance, social development and environmental policy. The initial exchange established a foundation for further discussions on possible joint projects and future cooperation between CAFS, ZEW, University of Mannheim, and the MannheimTaxation network.
